STREAM DAN DEACON’S RECORD STORE DAY 7” “KONONO RIPOFF NO. 1”!

Dan Deacon is set to release “Konono Ripoff No. 1,” a limited 7” (500 hand-numbered worldwide) for this year’s Record Store Day. An homage to the legendary Congolese Konono Nº1, the song has been a fan favorite of Dan Deacon’s live shows for some time, yet has never been recorded until now. This 7” features two versions of the track as performed by two sets of dual drummers: Kevin O’Meara and Jeremy Hyman on Side A; Denny Bowen and Dave Jacober on Side B.

The cover photo for the 7” was taken at Whiteside Mountain near Highlands, NC by Molton Brouff, the winner of the crowd sourced Dan Deacon America Instagram contest presented by Aperture. Find out more information and see the gallery of submissions here: http://dandeacon.com/america

This Friday he performs a sold out headlining show at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles. Later this month he’ll perform at some of the nation’s biggest museums and art centers including the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Mass MOCA, culminating with a special performance at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on April 27. The Metropolitan Museum of Art show will feature the world premiere of two new pieces for large ensemble made up of Deacon’s band as well as So Percussion, What Cheer? Brigade Marching Band, NYU steel drum ensemble, LEMUR robotic instruments, and Yamaha Disklavier player pianos. The show will also be the first live performance of USA I-IV in it’s entirety.

NEW SINGLE “MIRROR” PREMIERES TODAY ON PITCHFORK

ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM JINX
DUE JULY 23RD VIA SLUMBERLAND RECORDS

“All the subtlety of a high-pressure firehose…a dour, post-punk atmosphere that goes for immersion rather than force.” - Pitchfork

After unleashing a mysterious demo track “Sirens” last fall, today San Francisco-bred and Brooklyn-buttered band Weekend offers up the first official taste of their forthcoming second LP, Jinx. Crafted alongside Monte Vallier (The Soft Moon, Young Prisms), who produced the band’s 2010 debut Sports and 2011’s Red EP, the new album reveals a wonderfully singular work with an expanded spectrum of sound. Jinx emerges as Weekend’s most confident, emotionally unfiltered release to date, and the effect is roaring and disorienting all at once.

As lead singer/bassist Shaun Durkan once said, “If you think we were loud and obnoxious before, you’re gonna hate this” (Sentimentalist Magazine). Premiering today on Pitchfork, Weekend’s lead track “Mirror” sets the stage - and you can expect a gloriously noisy return.

Weekend will be playing live on May 16th with No Joy at Glasslands (Brooklyn, NY).
Tickets are available here.

LIARS

WATCH: “The Exact Color of Doubt”

In the run up to a series of live dates in the US and Europe, LIARS - Angus Andrew, Julian Gross and Aaron Hemphill - have premiered a brand new video for “The Exact Color Of Doubt” from their critically acclaimed album, WIXIW.

Watch “The Exact Color of Doubt” HERE

Director Markus Wambsganss, who collaborated with Liars on Drum’s Not Dead, has described the video as “3D Screen Test Scans in the Villa Straylight”, and explains that this is “a continuation of what the band and I started together with ‘The Other Side Of Mt. Heart Attack’, this time using a hacked Kinect sensor to scan their upper bodies to match the more digital feel of WIXIW”.
The video is also up for a MuVi Award, the FIRST festival award for music videos from Germany. Be sure to cast your vote HERE before May 3rd!

This May as a part of the Wordless Music Series, Liars will be playing two very special shows in New York in May. The first show on May 18th will take place at The Temple of Dendur At The Metropolitan Museum Of Artand feature multi-media and site-specific surprises as part of the MET’s “PUNK: Chaos to Couture” exhibit. For more information on this sold out show head to the MET’s website. In case you missed snagging tickets for that show be sure to grab yours for the band’s Brooklyn Masonic Templeperformance on the 19th.Tickets are still available here. The band also has tour dates in Barcelona for Primavera Sound and Sónar’s 20th Anniversary (full details below, more European and US dates to be announced).

Self-produced, with additional production from Daniel Miller and mixed by Tom Biller, WIXIW is an album that is hard to shake, tough to pin down, and impossible to get out of one’s head even after an initial listen.

Simultaneously the most accessible and most challenging release from these iconoclasts, it is both a summation of Liars’ work up to now, and a complete break from anything you’d ever heard the band do previously.

BEST COAST TOUR WITH GREEN DAY STARTS MARCH 28

RECORD STORE DAY 7” OUT APRIL 20

HEADLINE TOUR STARTS MAY 26

Southern California duo Best Coast is friends Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno. The pair met nearly a decade ago through the LA music scene and shared passions for art, food and local culture. Best Coast released their debut album Crazy for You in the summer of 2010, and the critically-acclaimed, Jon Brion-produced follow up The Only Place in the summer 2012, which placed on both Spin and Rolling Stone’s Best of Albums of 2012 list. Their dedicated fan base continues to grow. With an impressive 100k Twitter followers, a simple tweet linked to a home recording of Rob Orbison’s “Crying” instantly reached 20k plays.

Best Coast remain one of the busiest rock bands around. The duo are gearing up for a US Tour this Spring with legendary rockers Green Day. Best Coast will then headline their own tour starting May 26. The upcoming dates will be the first chance to hear brand new songs from their newly recorded EP, release date coming soon.
And with Record Store Day just around the corner, it’s only fitting that Bethany and Bobb partake in the activities. With the backing of Clarks Originals, Best Coast will release a brand new 7” “Fear Of My Identity,” available exclusively through participating indie stores. Record Store Day 2013 sees a perfect union of an iconic, long-standing brand like Clarks Originals and Best Coast, together celebrating vinyl and independent music.

“‘Turtle Neck’ shimmers with wavy, lush guitars and unhurried percussion before shifting to sprawling textures and morphing tempos. It cuts loose in the second half, turning into a spacey post-hardcore assault of jagged chords and gut-punching drums.”—ROLLING STONE
“Bosnian Rainbows is certainly more democratic, but the group’s music crackles with just as much unpredictable intensity… At its rhythmic heart are drummer Deantoni Parks and keyboardist Nikki Kasper… Teri Gender Bender harnesses a wide-ranging energy with her style and delivery that recalls Kate Bush, Damo Suzuki and even a young Geddy Lee… It’s a lineup that only a creative intellect as feverish as Rodriguez-Lopez could hope to wrangle… primed for mind-bending twists galore.”—TIME OUT NEW YORK
Teri Gender Bender, Nicci Kasper, Deantoni Parks and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, known collectively as BOSNIAN RAINBOWS, will release their self-titled debut album June 25 on Sargent House.
The album will feature the previously unveiled tracks “Torn Maps” and “Turtle Neck”—which can be heard at:
https://soundcloud.com/sargent-house/bosnian-rainbows-torn-maps
https://soundcloud.com/sargent-house/bosnian-rainbows-turtle-neck

… as well as nine other original Bosnian Rainbows compositions. The complete track listing is:

1. Eli
2. Worthless
3. Dig Right In Me
4. The Eye Fell In Love
5. Cry For You
6. Morning Sickness
7. Torn Maps
8. Turtle Neck
9. Always On The Run
10. Red
11. Mother, Father, Set Us Free

Many if not all of the above will be familiar to those who caught the band on its recent run of U.S. headline dates, shows that generated raves including:

“While Rodriguez-Lopez may be happy to describe the act as ‘a four piece, very stripped down affair,’ the combination of his energetic, frenzied playing style coupled with Teri Gender Bender’s ferocious stage presence is nothing short of electrifying.”—METROMIX
“a hard-rocking group of vets ripping through songs while sounding as fresh as a gleaming spectrum of color over the bleak streets of Sarajevo.”—CHICAGO INNERVIEW
“Rodriguez-Lopez’s uncanny ability to mutate his flailing notes into luscious symphonies coupled with front-lady Teri Gender Bender’s ‘unique’ stage presence gives Bosnian Rainbows a certain grace on the front lines of the battle for the preservation of today’s music.”—LISTEN ASHEVILLE
Bosnian Rainbows have just returned from their March 15 appearance at the Festival Vive Latino at Mexico City’s Foro Sol Stadium and one show supporting with Yeah Yeah Yeahs in Guadalajara—with whom they’ll meet up again in May for shows in Berlin and Paris. Other confirmed U.S. engagements at present are May 25 at the Neon Desert Festival in El Paso, TX, to be accompanied by a few yet to be announced Texas club dates. Bosnian Rainbows have been on the road consistently since August 2012, touring extensively in Europe, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and on the west coast, making a U.S. festival debut at last September’s Fun Fun Fun Fest, and more recently completing the aforementioned February headline tour.
